Philosophy: A child very gradually develops a personal appreciation for great music. Musical awareness grows in relation to how much quality contact the child has with others in creating and hearing music. The Music Preparatory Division faculty is dedicated to nurturing this kind of enjoyable yet challenging environment for its students. The love of music and the teaching thereof is not limited to children. Adults are also encouraged to pursue the study of music through the Music Preparatory Division. Purpose: Our purpose is to provide excellent musical training on any level of proficiency. Overall musicianship is stressed in addition to the study of an instrument. The Music Preparatory Division's goal is to help each student achieve his best through:
Performance opportunities and awards: SFA Music Preparatory Division students perform in Winter and Spring recitals and have additional performing opportunities each semester for community events, group classes and during "Performance Weeks."
