    • Symphony No. 5 in D minor by Dmitri Shostakovich

No fewer words bring together excitement from audiences and musicians alike than presenting an all-time favorite, Shostakovich’s powerful Fifth Symphony. Supposedly meant as a peace offering during tumultuous political times, Shostakovich’s monumental work is regarded as a testament to the human struggle. Leonard Chow, SFA Orchestra of the Pines concertmaster for the past two years, returns to the stage as soloist with the orchestra performing the Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, a wonderful masterpiece full of high wire acrobatics of virtuosity!
